So first you have to understand the color wheel in order to choose a perfect paint color. Another thing you need to consider the features of your home like floor and furniture. Choosing the color that works well with these features is much easier than renovating your entire home. So you have to be careful while selecting color as it is related to the human psyche.
3. Determine How Much Paint You’ll Need
The most important thing is to know how much paint you need, don’t run out of the paint in the middle of the project. The general rule of buying paint is one gallon to cover about 400 sq ft. It is said that the highly textured surface requires more paint than the smooth one. This is only a rough guideline, Hunarshanas suggests you to purchase 10 percent more than the calculated.
4. Gather Your Tools and Materials
When it comes to painting tools, the biggest mistake of homeowners is to purchase cheap tools that don’t give them good results. We suggest that don’t compromise on painting products, always purchase good quality products; they will make your whole job quicker and easier. If your products are of good quality, you can wash and reuse them. Here is a Hunarshana’s list of supplies that are essential in a painting project.
Important items for your supply list include:
Primer
Paint
Stir sticks
Paint rollers
Three inch angled brush
Extension pole
Paint trays
Hand masker or Painters tape
Putty knife
Sand paper
Drop cloth
Stepladder

5. Prep the Room and the Walls
How to prep a room for painting? Prepping the room is all about two things.
Protecting
It includes protecting your floor, furniture basically anything you don’t want to get paint on.
Preparing
Preparing your walls and trim.

The first thing is to clear all the furniture and accessories out of the room.
Then take the things from the wall and pull out the nail from the walls.
If you are out of space and can’t move furniture out of the room, then move your furniture to the centre of the room and cover up with the plastic sheet.
If you care about your carpet or floor then the next step is to cover your floor with the drop cloth.
The drop cloths are not slippery and can easily absorb splatters.
Also inspect the wall for holes, cracks, dings, and dents.
Fill the nail holes and don’t spackle the holes wherever you plan to rehang the items.
Remove all outlet covers and switch plates.
The next step is masking the trims to prevent the doors and windows from splatter and anything that you are not going to paint.
6. Mix the Paint Well
Use a wooden paint stick for mixing the paint. Stir it through the bottom of the gallon. Make sure that the base and the tint that they put in to create the custom color are perfectly mixed together. If you use more than one gallon of paint we recommend you to mix them in a bucket for color consistency. Empty all the gallons in a bucket and stir them together, in this way any slight difference in color between the gallons will mix and form one uniform color.
7. Pick your painting techniques
Before you start painting you need to plan a strategy.
Paint the trim first,
then ceilings
and in last paint the walls.
Plan to start from top to bottom that means start from the ceiling and end with the walls. By doing this splatters of paint that gets slopped onto the walls will get covered up when you paint them later. Use a roller to paint ceilings. Paint one wall at a time, finish it then start another. Wait until the first coat dries, then apply a second coat. Apply the painter’s tape on the trims while painting on the walls and if you are painting the trims remove the painter’s tape and wait for the wall to dry, before applying mask on the walls.
8. Ventilate your Space
Don’t forget to ventilate your room throughout the whole painting project by using fans or opening windows and doors. It will help to speed up the drying process, otherwise it will take much longer for the paint to dry.

9. Clean up
Remove all the painter’s tape and gather the drop cloth. If you get paint on something you didn’t mean to, you can remove them by paint remover. Paint remover works great for removing paints from trims, doors and countertops. For water based paint, use soap and water to clean the brushes and for oil based paint, brushes require mineral spirits.
